Anyone can easily be swept over by stress. While some stress in essential and unavoidable, if not kept in check or lightened in some way your stress can and will lead to anxiety.
There are umpteen causes of stress. It is a very perceptual thing. What causes stress for one person does not necessarily cause stress for another soul. One cause that seems to be on a lot of sufferer's lists is finances. Predominantly when they're going through money issues. It is really common for somebody to be feeling anxious when they're in debt.
So, if you wish to prevent the anxiety associated with financial stress, don't go into debt. Sadly this bit of advice is too late for many people that have rising debt and escalating anxiety. Here's what you can do for starters. Set up a budget for yourself. Yes, the terrible "b" word. In this budget you will include essential expenses with one addition - an emergency fund.
You will be able to pay off your debt quicker and notice a tapering off of the anxiety levels, if you stick to that budget. Imagine the relief and the overwhelming sensation of pride once all your debt is gone. Not to mention the absence of the anxiety.
Another cause of stress is working too much. Both you and your family can suffer due to the prolonged hours at work.
Set up some rules regarding your workplace to help alter this. During the time at work leave your personal life at the elevator bank. Pick it up on your way out and vice versa. When you leave your workplace don't take any part with you. Make it a rule not to think about work outside of the workplace. When you're with your family, give them your undivided attention. They merit it.
Another stressor for may individuals is their inability to say "no". It can be quite stressful to say yes to everyone who asks for your aid. When you say yes to too many individuals who ask, you end up not taking care of yourself. It's okay to say no once in a while. Aid others when you can, but don't go overboard.
Confine your aid to one person at a time. Be careful of those that are abusive in their calls for help. Family and friends especially. Teach them to help themselves. It is absolutely OK to expect something from them in return. That will also empower the person you are aiding.
Take on one issue at a time. You can easily yield to stress if you extend yourself too thin. It's alright to recognize your limitations. Don't over extend yourself.
There are a lot of things that cause stress. Take stock of your life and discover where your stress originates from. Then take crucial action to bring down that stress. You may have to modify some habits, you may even have to alter how you look on things. Reducing your level of stress should take first place of the order of importance.
